Drugs in Sport

Doping participant in sports

The use of banned performance-enhanced drugs in sports also known as doping is totally considered unethical by most international sports organizations. As doping can also aid performance and give competitors an unfair advantage, the common reasons for the ban are mainly the health risks of performance-enhancing drugs and the equality of  opportunities for all athletes.

Shocking Doping Scandals

The media had been flooded with news on Lance Armstrong (cyclist) on his doping accusations and it was found that he used erythropoietin and human growth hormone. Armstrong also had an interview on the Oprah Winfrey Network where he confessed to have used banned performance-enhancing drugs throughout much of his cycling career. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=thyFmxusB9E&noredirect=1

The Jamaican sprinters Asafa Powell and Sherone Simpson also surprised the sporting industry when they tested positive for a drug test. The sprint sensations face lengthy bans as they tested positive for oxilofrine at the Jamaican National Championships.
